Why Curiosity Might Just Be Your Ultimate Superpower
Let’s talk about what curiosity can do to you...
Okay, real talk, I am a spiritual person. The kind who hears the word meditation and experience
pain between their eyebrows. Is that normal? Probably not. It’s like my body’s
built-in alarm goes off, saying, “Whoa, we’re not just saying it; we’re living
it.” And temples? Don’t even get me started. I step inside, and suddenly emotional
floodgates open. Tears. Every. Single. Time.
Apparently, there’s a term for
this, Ashtsatvik Bhava. It’s that overwhelming emotional connection
spiritual folks rave about. For me, it’s less “elevated” and more “pass me the
tissues.” Dramatic? Maybe. But hey, if Ramkrishna Paramhans is right about Bhav
Samadhi—a state of total sync between mind, body, and soul—then maybe those
tears are more than just a flair for the dramatic.
But here’s where I felt the
spiritual intensity, my good friend Suniel, a professional spiritual enthusiast
(is that a thing?), once sent me a Kundalini meditation. Fifteen minutes in,
and it felt like my forehead got hit by a cosmic train. No peaceful out-of-body
experience here—just me, painfully plugged into some divine socket. Needless to
say, I tapped out. Meditation? Hard pass.
Thanks to AI algorithms, my
Instagram is now a cosmicgram. Scrolling through reels I stumbled onto a video
of Nilesh Kothari, unravelling the Ramayana and Mahabharata like ancient truth
bombs. Suddenly, these weren’t just epic stories—they were riddles waiting to
be solved.
I couldn’t help but wonder, what
if we’ve been missing the point all along?
This curiosity led me to Flag
of Ananta by Mitra Desai. Let me tell you, that book didn’t just take my
soul on a joyride—it felt like time travel for the mind. My heart? Racing. My
brain? Exploding with ideas. And the Meru Yantras? Don’t even get me started.
It was a cascade of “Wait, what?!” moments that turned my spiritual journey
from a checklist of rituals into a treasure hunt for meaning.
Because here’s the thing,
spirituality isn’t about blindly following routines. Nothing should be followed
blindly—not even your GPS. (People have fallen off of cliffs, you know.) It’s
about asking questions: Why am I doing this? What’s the purpose? How does this
make me feel?
When I shifted from autopilot to
curiosity mode, everything changed. Rituals stopped being checkboxes and became
experiences—alive, meaningful, and personal.
So, curiosity isn’t just the key
to spirituality—it’s the key to everything. Whether it’s emotional growth,
financial success, or understanding why you cry in temples (hi, still me),
asking “Why?” unlocks life’s deeper layers.
And here’s the kicker, curiosity can save you from a whole lot of confusion—and maybe even a scam or two. When we slow down and question what we believe, we stop blindly following trends and start seeing the world for what it truly is. Because the moment you stop living by someone else’s script, your journey gets a whole lot more interesting—and a lot more yours.
Finally, let us ask one more question to ourselves, If you’re not curious, what are you?
