My Shoes Hate Me

But I Walk Anyway

So we at Write IT started a fitness routine on 27th December. it wasn’t about grand transformations or dramatic before-and-after pictures. It was about one thing: consistency. Just walking—one step at a time, every single day. Easy enough, right? Well, not quite. If you still don’t know me, let me introduce myself: I’m that jinxed woman you see in movies. The one who trips over nothing, has things mysteriously fall on her, accidentally wipes out her files, and burns her toast.

I am committed to walking 5,000 steps a day, but Bro, I am nailing it with more than 8000, except for December 31st. No I wasn't partying (trust me, those days are behind me), but because my shoes decided to go against me. From December 27th to January 2nd, I walked six out of seven days. And when I say “walked,” I mean powered through with Band-Aids, painkillers, and sheer determination.

Why? Not because someone was keeping tabs on me—this wasn’t about bragging rights. It was about proving something to myself.

Picture me here and try not to laugh - Some days, I waddled like a penguin auditioning for a marathon. Other days, my pace could have been overtaken by a particularly motivated snail. And on Sunday, I went full-on rogue—ditched my shoes entirely and walked barefoot down the road. Yep, I’m officially that person.

Here’s what I am learning: Consistency isn’t glamorous. It doesn’t look like the highlight reels you see online. Sometimes, it’s messy. It’s limping, slowing down, or taking breaks to catch your breath. It’s walking barefoot when nothing else works. But above all, it’s showing up for yourself—even when it hurts.

We all have that nagging voice in our heads that says, “Why bother? Just skip today.” And honestly, no one else would have cared if I’d taken a day off. But here’s the thing: quitting only affects one person—me.

So, I kept going. Not for the step count, not for the team, but for the version of me who refuses to quit.

And that’s the real lesson here: Consistency isn’t about perfection—it’s about resilience. It’s not about how flawless you look doing it; it’s about how committed you are to keeping it up. Because every time you push through, every time you show up despite the odds, you’re building a stronger, more unstoppable version of yourself.

And let's just clear the air, I’m not here to boast about how disciplined or amazing I am. Honestly, Just like the Amul character we all love so much, I’m a poster child too but for chaos, and if my failures and foolishness can save you a little time or frustration, then consider it my public service.

So tell me, what’s your “keep going” moment?

And by the way, if you’ve got a lead on some pain-free, rebellion-free shoes, let me know. 😅

Thanks for reading

Love
